The Unforgettable

The Unforgettable is a short film which explores trauma and systemic abuse. Set in the late 1960s sourcing period appropriate props was extremely important including the record player and radio. Music is a central theme of the story which meant dressing each space to reflect this was a priority.
To dramatically transform the modern kitchen into a vintage space I used a dark wood vinyl to cover the white cabinets. I wanted to create a space that felt authentic to the family, so I created hand drawn and painted artwork to dress our young hero's bedroom. I wanted to include practical lighting so vintage lamps and small candles can be seen throughout.

Circle is a tragic drama exploring the fall out of losing a loved one.
To dress the Widow's house, I created an original artwork which displayed the central themes. I used multiple techniques to build texture on the canvas which was accentuated by the gaffing. This allowed me to use neutral colours showing our protagonist's sense of emptiness. I also created pamphlets and posters for the support group as well as sourcing all the props and set pieces.
During this project I was also in charge of costume design. For each character we had a reoccurring colour, that reflected their personalities. We see Widow's clothing progressively change as her mental state declines and she succumbs to negative influences.
The narrative structure of the film meant there were around 20 costume changes within one day of shooting, which I documented for continuity.

Try Not to Laugh
In Post-Production
Try Not to Laugh is a comedy short film set in a mundane alien office. This juxtaposition of familiarity with a hint of otherworldliness aimed to play into the absurdist nature of the script and how it reflects humanity.
To create an alien language legible to the audience I used a combination of astrology symbolism and Simlish (from the popular video game) allowing for visual gags in the background of shots.
The office space needed to be fully dressed to hide sensitive client information and files were stored so that they could be reset to their previous order.
